Sardar Udham Review:- A Director's brilliance

When you live across a time where the movie industry is on a marathon to launch new biopics and heart-thumping jingoistic patriotic movies, it is quite a wonder to watch Sardar Udham, one of the best biopics produced in India. Coming from the acclaimed Shoojit Sircar , the biopic on Sardar Udham Singh, can literally be never classified as a Hindi movie. The plot of the movie delves into the journey of Sardar Udham Singh, known for assassinating Michael O’Dwyer in London to avenge the Jallainwala Bagh massacre of 1919 and the court proceedings that continue. It would be quite a cumbersome process to speak of a biographic plot, which keeps on shifting to different timelines in a non-linear format, yet keeps the viewers glued.  What makes Sardar Udham, a step apart from every other biopic is something that should be discussed:- Treatment :- As mentioned earlier that the movie cannot be classified as a Hindi movie because language is just considered as a medium to converse with another...

MORTAL KOMBAT Movie Review- DC and HBO Max goes for a journey of Realms

     WB's Mortal Kombat is the latest live action adaptation of video game by the same name, a reboot, as well as sixth to their list movies having simultaneous release on theatres and HBO Max on the same day, after Godzilla vs Kong,  as a part of the new normal created by the pandemic.

     The plot of this Simon Mcquoid directorial takes place in a fictional universe where the Outworld Realm has defeated the Earthrealm in nine of the ten deathmatches, called by the name Mortal Kombat, and as per the prophecy, the blood of Hanzo Hasashi, played by Hiroyuki Sanada, will unite the champions of Earthrealm to lead a victory against the Outworld. The warriors of Earthrealm are identified by a dragon mark, who acquire their special power called 'arcana', during their training in Raiden's Temple. Meanwhile Shang Tsung, played by Chin Han, assembled the warriors from Outworld to terminate the chosen warriors of Earthrealm, in order to maintain the victory and overtake Earthrealm, prior to the tournament and thereby bypass the prophecy.

     The well choreographed action sequences with extreme violent blood splashes is the only factor worth mentioning. The visual effects has been compelling in many places but at the same time, fell apart at some points, fading the realistic tone. Even though it was quite fun to listen to the classic theme of Mortal Kombat, which was also used in parts, the movie fails to provide the depth to the characters, the fictional world as well as the tournament, which itself was missing in the movie. How can such a wafer like movie end with the promise of a second installment, when the studio is still keeping its mouth shut about continuing the well received Snyderverse.

     Warner Bros, even after the colossal failure of Joss Whedon's Justice League in 2017 and the hardcore backlash from fans didn't learn that the urgency to showcase the climax, by lacklustre editing and incompetent screenplay, can only create polarizing negative opinions. 

     The movie could be a one time watch for those who are just looking for a less than two hour pie of   entertainment to escape from reality in this pandemic.
